America’s movement in the post-Crimea Eurasian chessboard The recent Ukraine conflict reminds us of World War I, which started exactly a century ago (1914-1918). It created a worldwide concern of a new Cold War between the West and Russia. A local crisis has been bringing far-reaching changes to the Eurasian geopolitical chessboard, including the Middle East region and beyond the public’s expectation. In April, U.S President Barack Obama officially visited 4 Asian countries: Japan, South Korea, Malaysia and Philippines in order to push the “pivot” policy amid all the crises and changes in the world. This trip took place one month after the Nuclear Security Summit in Holland and an unscheduled G-7 meeting on Russian sanctions. |
